NEW! This savory assortment of certified organic seeds combines 5 different beautifully designed seed packs adorned with botanical artwork. Includes one pack each of Basil Bouquet, Chives, Cilantro, Greek Oregano, and Moss Curled Parsley. A grand total of approximately 1100 seeds!
Basil Bouquet includes Genovese, lemon, cinnamon, purple, and Thai basil varieties. These basils are excellent choices for pesto or stir-frying. Approximately 250 seeds total.
- Direct sow after last frost or start indoors up to 1 month before.
- Requires full sun.
- Approximately 60 days to maturity.
- Pinch off tallest stems regularly to prevent flowering; the flavor will become to strong if the plant is allowed to bloom.
Chives are the smallest of all of the Alliums and serve both edible and ornamental purposes. Plant in your garden to repel unwanted insect pests while attracting beneficial pollinators, harvest the foliage to use in recipes, and use the petite purple flowers as an edible garnish! Approximately 200 seeds total.
- Start seeds indoors about 1 week before soil can be worked outdoors; transplant seedlings outdoors into workable soil when about 3″ tall. Or direct sow in a weed-free area as soon as soil can be worked.
- Prefers part to full sun but will also grow in low sun conditions (2 to 4 hours per day). Hardy in zones 4-9.
- Approximately 80 days to maturity.
- For best flavor, cut every week or two once established. Flowers are edible when soft and pink.
Cilantro is widely used in Asian and Mexican cuisines. Its seeds, known as coriander, can also be ground up and used as a spice. It’s harvest window is brief, so it’s best to divide the seeds and sow on a staggered schedule. Approximately 200 seeds total.
- Direct sow from about 1 month before last frost through early fall at 2-week intervals.
- Tolerant of a wide variety of soils and sunlight conditions.
- Approximately 50 days to maturity.
- Harvest frequently as plants will bolt (flower and go to seed) very quickly after harvesting, which changes the flavor of the leaves; but then you can harvest the seeds!
Greek Oregano has a rich aroma and thrives in colder climates. If the ground is not covered by snow, you may even be able to harvest it in winter! Harvest before it begins to flower for the best flavor. Use it fresh or dry it to use in soups and sauces in the colder months. Approximately 250 seeds total.
- Surface-sow or sow shallowly outdoors 3 to 4 weeks before last frost. Can also be started indoors earlier.
- Tolerant of poor, rocky soil and a variety of sunlight conditions.
- Approximately 80 days to maturity.
- Cultivate well at the seedling stage, but once established it requires very minimal care and will spread as far as you allow it to.
Moss Curled Parsley is both flavorful and a beautiful garnish. It’s also easier and cleaner to harvest due to its upright leaves. Approximately 200 seeds total.
- Direct sow in early spring as soon as soil is workable, or start early indoors and transplant. You can also sow in early summer for a fall/winter crop.
- Tolerates a wide range of sunlight conditions from mostly shade to full sun.
- Approximately 75 days to maturity.
- Harvest all season long by cutting off the outer stems and leaving the central stems to grow.
