NEW! Brighten someone’s day with a colorful plant kit to grow in a whimsical half-pint paint can. Makes an excellent gift to show someone how much you care. Each kit includes:
- 8-ounce mini paint can planter
- Organic seeds in your choice of cherry tomato, prickly pear cactus, or strawberry
- Growing medium
- Simple instructions provided on back of can
For cherry tomato, start seeds indoors 4 to 6 weeks before the last frost. Seeds should sprout within 7 to 14 days. Once the sprouts are established and overnight temperatures stay above 55 degrees Farenheit, transplant outdoors in a spot that receives 6 to 8 hours of sunlight daily. Water often and fertilize monthly. You can expect to harvest approximately 60 to 85 days after transplanting outdoors.
For prickly pear cactus, start seeds indoors during the spring or summer months when there are ample hours of sunlight. You should see sprouts within 14 to 30 days. Once the plant is established, fertilize twice per year.
For strawberry, start seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost. Plants should sprout in about 14 to 28 days. Once sprouts are established and overnight temperatures stay above 55 degrees Farenheit, transplant outdoors in a spot that receives 3 to 8 hours of sunlight daily. Water often and fertilize monthly. You can expect to begin harvesting berries approximately 70 to 90 days after planting outdoors.
