A gardener’s favorite, well worth the wait!
Peonies are beloved by gardeners for their large, fragrant flowers that can range from two to 12 inches in diameter depending on the variety. Flowers can be single, semi-double, or double.
Double-flowered peonies such as the Shirley Temple Peony are especially popular for their luxurious, fluffy blooms. The semi-double Pink Hawaiian Coral Peony has a more open look to its flowers, revealing the golden yellow stamens inside.
Peonies are resistant to deer and are an excellent choice for cut flower arrangements. When planting peonies, choose a location in full sun to part sun with well-draining soil.
Though it may take up to two years after planting for your peony to bloom, its showy flowers are well worth the wait. Your peony can thrive for decades in the same location to provide enjoyment year after year.
