Daylilies – the Perfect Perennial!
Daylilies have numerous desirable qualities: showy flowers, a wide variety of colors, tolerance to drought and heat stress, easy to grow, and low maintenance.
Reblooming daylilies, including the Joan Senior and Purple d’Oro varieties, may bloom more than once during a single growing season or have multiple successive bloom cycles over the course of several months. Our new Daylily Collection includes one each of these two varieties of daylilies, plus a third variety, Stella d’Oro.
Though each individual bloom lasts no more than 24 hours, you’ll enjoy so many flowers on each plant throughout the season. We recommend removing the spent flowers as soon as they begin to wilt to encourage new buds and reblooming.
Daylilies are known to attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators and can vary in size from 12″ to more than 24″ tall.
You’ll want to choose a location that receives full to part sun when planting your daylilies. Most daylilies will easily grow in a variety of soil types, but for best results the soil should be moist and well-drained. Adding an organic fertilizer will help them grow.
